GameCatalyst for ALL Experience levels
GameCatalyst is designed for developers at every skill level, from complete beginners to experienced professionals.
For beginners:
- You can build games without knowing every Unity menu or C# syntax detail
- You learn by asking questions and seeing the AI demonstrate solutions
- You avoid common mistakes because the AI follows best practices
- You get immediate feedback when something doesn’t work
For intermediate developers:
- You speed up repetitive tasks (creating UI, setting up physics, generating scripts)
- You explore new Unity features by asking the AI to demonstrate them
- You maintain consistency across your project with AI-enforced patterns
- You focus on game design while AI handles implementation details
For experienced developers:
- You automate complex workflows (batch operations, multi-file refactoring)
- You prototype ideas faster by describing them instead of coding them
- You extend GameCatalyst with custom handlers for your specific tools (FishNet, Game Creator, etc.)
- You maintain control through granular permissions and approval gates
GameCatalyst adapts to your experience level through the Autonomy Slider. Set it to Cautious (0-49) for step-by-step confirmation, Balanced (50-79) for independent work with checkpoints, or High (80-100) for maximum automation. You decide how much control you want.
Growing with you:
As you learn more about GameCatalyst and Unity, you can gradually increase the autonomy level, disable plan approval, and let Vex work more independently. You can also extend GameCatalyst by writing custom handlers for tools you use frequently. The system grows with your skills instead of limiting you to a beginner experience forever.
No minimum skill required:
You do not need to understand C#, Unity components, or game engine architecture to start using GameCatalyst. You describe what you want in plain language. Vex translates your intentions into the correct technical implementation. As you observe what Vex builds, you learn naturally.
The Autonomy Slider adapts to you:
GameCatalyst includes an Autonomy Slider in the Dashboard Settings that lets you control how independently Vex works. Set it to Cautious (0-49) and Vex checks with you before every major step — perfect for learning. Set it to Balanced (50-79) and Vex works independently but pauses for important decisions. Set it to High (80-100) and Vex handles everything autonomously, only stopping for critical blockers. As you gain confidence, slide the control higher. The system adapts to your growth.
