What is GameCatalyst?

Understanding Your Data, Your Machine: Privacy and Local Control

Estimated reading: 0 minutes 12 views

GameCatalyst is built on a simple principle: your project data never leaves your machine.

What stays local:

  • All project files — Your scenes, scripts, assets, and prefabs are never uploaded, archived, or transmitted to Vexstorm Studios.
  • All databases — Session data, plan history, and configuration are stored in local SQLite databases on your machine.
  • All processing — Commands execute locally. No cloud processing of your project data.

What GameCatalyst does NOT do:

  • No telemetry — GameCatalyst does not phone home. No analytics. No tracking.
  • No data monetization — Your data is not sold or shared.
  • No auto-attached data — Support tickets contain only what you explicitly type. No project files are attached automatically.

What about the Web Relay?

When you use the Vexstorm Web Relay to connect cloud AI clients like ChatGPT, the relay tunnels MCP messages without storing or logging them. It’s a secure HTTPS tunnel, not a data collection service.

What about AI client privacy?

Your AI client’s privacy policy governs conversation data. GameCatalyst adds no additional data collection. If you use Claude Desktop, Anthropic’s privacy policy applies. If you use ChatGPT, OpenAI’s policy applies. GameCatalyst just provides the tools.

Protected paths: GameCatalyst permanently shields sensitive directories (.git, Library, Temp, Logs) from AI access. The AI cannot read, modify, or delete files in these locations.

Your game. Your data. Your control. Always.

GameCatalyst adds zero data collection. Your AI client handles conversations. GameCatalyst just provides the tools and the connection.

Local databases:

GameCatalyst stores session data, workspace plans, task history, and configuration in two local SQLite databases: GameCatalyst.db (for sessions, plans, and project registrations) and WhatIs.db (for documentation and knowledge base data). These databases live on your machine in the Central Installation Directory. They are never uploaded, synced, or backed up to any remote server. If you uninstall GameCatalyst, these databases are removed along with everything else in the CID.

Support tickets are minimal:

If you submit a support ticket from the Dashboard or WhatIs site, the ticket contains only what you explicitly type: your name, email, a description of the issue, and optional fields like operating system and software version. No project files, scripts, scene data, or assets are ever attached automatically. Vexstorm Studios receives only the text you choose to send.

The bottom line:

GameCatalyst is designed so that your creative work stays on your machine. No telemetry phones home. No analytics track your usage. No cloud service processes your project data. The only external communication happens when you explicitly start the Web Relay for cloud AI clients or when you click “Check for Updates” in the Dashboard. Everything else is local, private, and under your control.
